Job Description
We're looking for a Botanist, at either Senior or Intermediate Experience Level, to deliver a broad range of conservation, impact assessment, and monitoring projects. The role involves working with vegetation types that include grassland, wetland, forest, and woodland communities, and in partnership with GHD's clients, land managers, and state government bodies.

Position Details
* Field‐based botanical survey work, including vegetation mapping, ecological monitoring, threatened flora survey, and Vegetation Quality Assessments using the Habitat Hectares method.
* Ecological impact assessments and offsetting for a range of projects from small‐scale infrastructure to major projects of state significance, including technical documentation for Environment Effects Statements.
* Design and implementation of ecological monitoring programmes, surveys for threatened species, long‐term monitoring projects, and assessment of environmental watering projects.
* Preparation of proposals and technical reports for public and private sector clients.
* Managing both ecology‐focused and multi‐disciplinary projects.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Science with a major in Botany, Ecology, or Environmental Science.
* 3+ years (Intermediate) or 7+ years (Senior) experience conducting vegetation surveys across south‐east Australia, ideally gained within a consulting or professional services environment.
* Strong botanical identification skills, including experience using dissecting microscopes and identification keys.
* Experience undertaking Habitat Hectare assessments and VQA accreditation.
* Excellent listening and communication skills and a readiness to develop relationships with your network.
* Willingness to work flexibly and independently, particularly when undertaking flora surveys and traveling to remote locations.
* Understanding of national and state environmental legislation and policy (e.g., EPBC Act, FFG Act, Planning and Environment Act).
* A current full Victorian driver's licence.
