Rates: $100 - $130 per hour (inc. super)
The Office of the Official Secretary to the Governor-General is transitioning ICT services from an internal arrangement to a shared services arrangement with another government department. We require an experienced, dedicated Project Manager with a proven track record of delivering successful ICT projects and initiatives, and experience working in the public sector, who can facilitate this transition. This role will provide technical and managerial support to the in-house IT team, which currently comprises four full time staff. It is anticipated that this engagement would be full-time to 30 June 2026 with potential extension by agreement.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement a comprehensive ICT strategy that aligns with the agency's overall business goals and objectives.
* Oversee and manage the transition of ICT services to the Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS), ensuring value for money, continuity of services, and implementation of a fit-for-purpose solution.
* Provide strong and considered advice to OOSGG stakeholders.
* Collaborate with business leaders across the agency to understand technology needs and ensure these are met in the transition work.
* Build and maintain relationships within and between OOSGG and DPS; negotiate and manage contracts and agreements as needed.
* Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff, including guidance on technology-related matters.
* Ensure the security and reliability of IT systems and data, and implement strategies to mitigate risks and protect sensitive information.
* Oversee the day-to-day operations of the ICT Operations team, including management of staff, budgets, and resources.
* Monitor and maintain financial records for compliance and audit; assist with financial planning and budgeting.
* Define, approach, facilitate and ensure satisfactory completion of medium-scale projects; provide effective leadership to the project team.
* Adopt appropriate project management methods and tools; manage change control and assess risks.
* Maintain realistic project plans and deliver regular, accurate communications to stakeholders.
* Ensure project and product quality reviews occur on schedule and that deliverables are completed within agreed cost, timescale and resource budgets, with formal acceptance by stakeholders.
* Monitor costs, timelines, quality and resources, taking action when performance deviates from tolerances.
* Stakeholder relationship management: identify communications needs, translate strategies into activities, facilitate open communication, and act as a single point of contact with stakeholder engagement plans.
