Are you an experienced industrial welding professional ready to move beyond day-to-day applications and help shape the future of welding equipment across Australia and New Zealand?

Welding Industries of Australia is looking for an Industrial Welding Equipment Specialist — a field-driven, application-focused role where your hands‐on expertise will directly influence our equipment strategy, product development and the adoption of emerging welding technologies.

You'll work across engine‐driven welders, industrial MIG platforms and advanced welding solutions, supporting customers in mining, heavy fabrication, onsite maintenance and rental. Acting as the technical link between field applications, sales teams and global ITW Welding product groups — including Miller, Hobart and Bernard — you'll be the person who understands both what happens on the job site and what the next generation of equipment needs to deliver.

This role is well suited to a Welding Equipment Specialist, Application Engineer, Technical Sales professional or Workshop Supervisor who is ready to step into product development and portfolio strategy — without losing touch with the real‐world applications that matter most.

Who are we?

Welding Industries Australia (WIA) is part of the welding products division of Illinois Tool Works (ITW), a global manufacturing company that has been operating in Australia and New Zealand for over 60 years.

The foundation of our success is combining leading global welding brands with strong local market support to deliver innovative, high‐value solutions to our customers.

What position do we have available?

As the Assistant Product Manager – Industrial Welding Solutions, you will be the subject matter expert across a niche range of industrial welding solutions, including equipment, systems, and associated technologies. You'll support the full product lifecycle—from identifying emerging market opportunities and understanding customer needs, through to the successful commercialisation and ongoing optimisation of our solutions.

Working closely with sales, technical, operations, and marketing teams, you'll transform field and customer insights into actionable strategies that strengthen our product offering, enhance our competitive position, and deliver monetised customer value.

In this role, your key responsibilities will include:

Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for industrial welding solutions across the business.

Support the full product lifecycle, from concept and development through to launch and post‐market performance.

Capture, analyse, and validate market and customer insights to guide product and portfolio decisions.

Collaborate with product development, engineering, and sales teams to bring innovative solutions to market.

Develop and maintain product roadmaps aligned with corporate objectives and revenue goals.

Provide technical support, training, and product knowledge to internal and external stakeholders and decision makers.

Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to identify growth opportunities.

Analyse product performance, pricing, and market dynamics to support data driven decision‐making.

Coordinate directly with global OEM partners and ITW Welding business units.

Gain exposure to global product roadmaps and product management frameworks.

Satisfy local market needs, applications, and compliance requirements.

Translate ANZ market needs into global product and strategy decisions.

Is this the perfect role for you?

You're a curious, technically minded professional who understands the industrial welding landscape and thrives at the intersection of technology, commercial strategy, and customer engagement. You enjoy linking technical performance to real‐world applications and can confidently communicate with everyone from welding operators to senior leadership.

If you have the following skills and experience, this may be the perfect opportunity for you:

Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, project management, or a related discipline, or relevant trade qualifications.

Strong knowledge of welding processes (MMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW) and product management experience.

Experience in welding, metal fabrication, or industrial manufacturing environments.

Exposure to welding equipment, automation, or integrated welding solutions is highly regarded.

Proven ability to manage projects and work cross‐functionally with R&D, marketing, and sales teams.

Excellent communication, analytical, and problem‐solving skills.

A proactive mindset and passion for continuous improvement.

At WIA, we're committed to innovation, quality, and supporting the industries that build our world.

Be part of a collaborative, people‐focused team that values learning and initiative.

Work with innovative industrial welding technologies and a supportive, down‐to‐earth team.

See your technical expertise and ideas directly influence products, customers, and business success.
