Search Partners have been engaged by Core Lithium to help build out their team as they restart mining over the next 8 weeks, before transitioning to the BP33 underground project within the next 12 months.
We are seeking a Senior Underground Geotechnical Engineer to support the development of the BP33 underground lithium mine at the Finniss Lithium Project, located just outside Darwin in the Northern Territory.
This is a rare opportunity within the mining industry to work on an underground mine development project while living in Darwin and being home every night, rather than working a FIFO roster.
The Opportunity
The Senior Underground Geotechnical Engineer will provide geotechnical expertise to support the safe and efficient development of the BP33 underground operation.
Working within a small technical projects team, you will collaborate closely with the Underground Mine Planning Engineer, Mine Surveyor and Projects team to ensure underground development is designed and executed safely and effectively.
This role provides the opportunity to play a key technical role in the development phase of a new underground lithium mine, working on underground stability, ground support design and geotechnical monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide geotechnical expertise to support underground development and operations
* Assess ground conditions and develop appropriate ground support strategies
* Conduct underground inspections and geotechnical monitoring
* Provide technical input into underground design and development sequencing
* Support the development of geotechnical standards, reports and specifications
* Work with contractors, consultants and suppliers on geotechnical requirements
* Ensure compliance with relevant mining regulations and safety standards
About You
To be successful in this role you will bring:
* Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline
* Strong experience in underground hard-rock mining environments
* Expertise in ground support design, underground stability and geotechnical analysis
* Experience in environments with Water challenges
* Experience conducting underground inspections and geotechnical monitoring
* Familiarity with mining software such as Vulcan or similar
* The ability to work independently while collaborating closely with engineering and operations teams
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills
