Overview of role:
Coliban Water is currently delivering the Big Water Build - a once in a generation opportunity to deliver upwards of $435 million in a capital works program over the next five to ten years.
We are also assisting with the operation, construction and decommissioning of key water treatment assets in the Bendigo region for other government agencies.
Reporting to a Senior Project Manager within the Major Projects team, the Technical Specialist Engineer will assist with the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of project and operational work. A range of technical and complex renewal, upgrade and decommissioning projects will be delivered across the Bendigo region.
On top of the capital works program, Coliban Water are assisting their contracted partners in delivering on the ground plant operational activities. The Technical Specialist Engineer will also be applying an in-depth knowledge and understanding of water treatment plant and equipment, in a day-to-day plant operations environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and support Bendigo Groundwater Treatment Plant operation and decommissioning activities:
* Support plant operator with technical information and guidance
* Gain in-depth knowledge of process units and optimise these process units
* Organise and manage maintenance works on this site
* Take responsibility for management of decommissioning activities
* Manage contractual relationships and responsibility with EPA, DEECA, Resources Victoria and contractors
* Manage and implement brine dewatering at Bendigo WRP brine lagoon
* Write and implement decommissioning plan for this operation
Manage operation of facilities at Bendigo Water Reclamation Plant and Castlemaine Water Reclamation Plant:
* Support plant operator with technical information and guidance
* Gain in-depth knowledge of process units and optimise these process units
* Organise and manage maintenance works on this site
Undertake capital works program, supporting the Big Water Build:
* Ensure allocated projects and program activities are delivered on time, on budget and to specifications
* Preparation and assessment of tenders including writing specifications and compiling documentation
* Preparation of project plans and manage the program and contractors in accordance with Coliban Waters integrated quality standards
About you:
Qualifications acquired through: A tertiary degree in engineering.
Knowledge and experience with some of the following treatment technologies will be required:
* Reverse osmosis
* Electrodialysis reversal
* Ultrafiltration
* Media filtration
* Chemical dosing (chlorine disinfection, membrane chemical cleaning, etc.)
* Ultraviolet disinfection
* Coagulation and flocculation
* Chemical precipitation
Knowledge and experience with some of the following engineering areas will be required:
* Process and instrumentation diagram drafting
* Process design
* Change management
* Liaison with and purchasing from technology suppliers
* Project management skills
* Financial management skills
* Water treatment and water reclamation plant operation and maintenance

Salary:
The salary and conditions for this position will be as per the Coliban Water Enterprise Agreement 2021 Band 4 $93,548-$112,895 + superannuation salary range will be offered to the successful candidate commensurate with their skills and experience. This role is a Fixed term position.
