Consumer and Business Services (CBS) is seeking a highly capable Principal Policy Officer to lead the development of strategic policy and legislative reform on issues of priority to government.
In this role, you will provide high-level, evidence based policy advice to support decision making by the Commissioner, Chief Executive and Minister. You will lead complex policy projects, develop reform proposals and prepare strategic briefing material on matters impacting consumers, businesses and the South Australian community.
You will work across government and with external stakeholders to analyse emerging issues, represent CBS in policy forums and contribute to reforms of statewide significance.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading the development and delivery of strategic policy and legislative reform initiatives.
* Preparing high-quality policy advice, briefs, submissions and discussion papers.
* Providing expert advice on complex legislative and policy matters.
* Managing complex policy and reform projects, including planning, monitoring and reporting on progress.
* Representing CBS in intergovernmental and stakeholder forums on complex policy issues.

You are a strategic policy professional with strong analytical and communication skills and experience working in complex government environments. You can deliver high-quality advice under tight timeframes, manage competing priorities and engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
Your ability to translate complex issues into clear policy advice and lead significant reform initiatives will be key to your success in this role.
About the Business
The Attorney General's Department (AGD) is a key portfolio within the South Australian Government, employing more than 1,900 staff. AGD delivers high level legal services and advice to Ministers and government agencies, provides specialist policy support, oversees regulation and compliance functions, and delivers essential services directly to the community.
Consumer and Business Services (CBS) is a division of the Attorney‐General's Department and is responsible for protecting consumers, supporting and regulating businesses and recording significant life events for South Australians. CBS is customer focussed and flexible in its activities, providing accessible information and services.
The Regulatory Services Branch is responsible for providing an informative, consistent and responsive service through the provision of high‐level strategic advice to, and on behalf of, senior officials, Ministers and the South Australian Government. The branch also develops and delivers legislative and policy reform on behalf of the Minister, Attorney‐General and Commissioner that is in line with the Government's broader strategy and priorities.
Special Conditions for Employment
Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.

Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
