Crew Leader
Logan City Council is seeking a Crew Leader to join our Logan Water team and lead the delivery of essential water and wastewater services. This role provides on-the-job guidance to field crews while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality maintenance and construction activities across our network.
In this role, you'll lead by example, troubleshoot technical issues, and support the Field Supervisor in achieving service delivery outcomes that make a real difference to the Logan community.
Key Indicators for success
* Lead and guide field crews and contractors in maintenance and construction activities on water and wastewater infrastructure.
* Troubleshoot on-site issues and provide practical solutions.
* Undertake live water and wastewater connections and install meters and services.
* Inspection and maintenance of trunk main valves boxes including dewatering, cleaning, condition assessment, repair or replacement of parts and other works as directed.
* Respond to reactive maintenance activities within required timeframes.
* Operate valves, hydrants, and small plant equipment such as pumps and compaction tools.
* Provide marked-up as-constructed drawings for final documentation.
* Ensure accurate completion of work orders, timesheets, and electronic records.
* Coordinate workforce, materials, and equipment for assigned tasks. Act as first point of customer contact on-site and support water shutdown notifications.
* Coach and mentor crew members, assisting with training and development.
* Support the Field Supervisor with toolbox talks, team meetings, and liaison with contractors and developers.
You'll Possess
* Certificate III or IV in Water Industry Operations (or equivalent) highly desirable.
* Extensive experience in construction and maintenance of water and sewer infrastructure.
* Civil maintenance experience, including pipe laying background.
* Ability to coach and mentor team members effectively.
* Ability to read and interpret GIS and infrastructure plans and draft as-constructed details.
* Comprehensive asset knowledge and fault-finding capability.
* Understanding of Queensland Workplace Health and Safety legislation and ability to work in confined spaces.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Current "C" class driver's licence (MR licence desirable). Current First Aid/LVR CPR certificate or ability to obtain.
* General Safety Induction (Construction Industry) ticket or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
* Willingness to undergo pre-employment functional assessment and maintain required vaccinations (Hepatitis A & B, Tetanus, Q fever).
* Flexibility to participate in after-hours on-call duties as required.
