The Lead Race Mechanic plays a critical role in the preparation, maintenance, and performance of McElrea Racing's Porsche race cars. This role requires a hands-on professional with exceptional mechanical ability, leadership skills, and attention to detail. The Lead Mechanic oversees car maintenance and setup, leads a small team of mechanics and technicians, and ensures the highest standards of reliability and presentation at every event.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years' experience in professional motorsport (Porsche, GT, or open-wheel experience highly regarded).
Proven experience as a lead or No. 1 mechanic on front-running race cars.
Strong knowledge of Porsche GT systems, electronics, and setup procedures.
Excellent mechanical aptitude and diagnostic ability.
Ability to lead, motivate, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Flexibility to travel and work weekends during race events.
Current driver's licence and eligibility to work in Australia.
