The Shelford Group is a large established construction company successfully managing a wide range of commercial and residential constructions projects across the Perth metropolitan area, and the southwest region.
The Opportunity
Due to continuing growth in our commercial and residential construction divisions, we are providing an exciting opportunity for a HSE qualified person to join our health and safety management team as a trainee HSE Coordinator. Working closely with our HSE Manager and our HSE team, you will be developing and applying a broad range of HSE management skills across our commercial and residential divisions.
Initially, your primary focus will be on coordinating and applying subcontractor and site worker mobilisation protocols across Shelford\'s commercial projects. This will give you a very solid grounding in Shelford\'s HSE systems and practices, a thorough understanding our HSEQ management software platforms, as well as giving you site experience across a wide variety of projects.
Although this is an entry level position, your learning curve will be steep and within a short period of time we anticipate that you will be an active participant in a range of HSE management functions including:
* Assisting and advising project personnel with their compliance with legislative, company and client site health and safety requirements
* Monitoring, and reporting on site HSE performance and compliance with legislative, company and client site requirements
* Participating in internal and external audits, and assisting in the development of corrective action plans
* Conducting site health and safety inspections
* Supporting the HSE Manager with incident investigation and reporting
* Developing and reviewing project HSE plans, documents, SWMS, procedures records and registers
About You
As the successful candidate you'll ideally have the following:
* Certificate IV or above in Occupational Health and Safety
* Knowledge of HSE legislation, Codes of Practice and Standards
* Site-based HSE experience and/or trade experience in a commercial construction environment will be well regarded
* Demonstrated capacity to work cooperatively in a team environment to achieve successful outcomes
* Strong skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications
* Excellent communication and people skills
* High level time management capacity
* High initiative and critical thinking ability
* First Aid certificate
