The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated and Multi-skilled Road Maintenance Team Member to join the City Amenity team at our Operations Centre in West Footscray. In this role, you will deliver a range of road and civil maintenance works, including the repair and upkeep of roads, footpaths and street furniture assets, in line with approved programs, specifications and budgets. You will also be responsible for implementing effective traffic management at worksites, ensuring compliance with Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS) and relevant Codes of Practice.
Key ResponsibilitiesRoad, Footpath and Civil Works
* Routine and reactive maintenance of roads, footpaths, and shared user paths
* Asphalt works including pothole repairs, edge breaks, patching, and reinstatements
* Concrete works including forming, placement and finishing of footpaths, pram ramps, and minor kerb & channel repairs
* Paver and bluestone repairs (lift, relay, re‐grout and realign - minor quantities)
* Laneway maintenance including grading and pothole repairs
Drainage and Streetscape Assets
* Maintenance and replacement of side entry pits, lids and surrounds (concrete, steel and grates), including use of crane‐mounted trucks
* Installation and replacement of street furniture such as bike hoops, bins, and concrete pads
* Maintenance and installation of Council signage, including working at heights under 2 metres
Traffic Management & Safety
* Implement and maintain Traffic Guidance Schemes and temporary traffic management
* Conduct stop/slow duties, pedestrian, and detour management
* Act as a qualified spotter for works near overhead or underground services
* Complete SWMS, pre‐start checks and hazard inspections
Operations & Team Contribution
* Safely operate light and medium plant and HR vehicles
* Complete daily checks, timesheets, and customer service responses
* Assist other Operations and Maintenance teams as required
* Contribute positively to team meetings, toolbox talks and service improvements
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have the following qualifications:
* Certificate 3 in Civil Construction and Maintenance
* Current Victorian Driver's Licence with a Medium or Heavy Rigid Licence Endorsement
* Certificate of competency such as Traffic Management, Spotter, White Card
* Working with Children Check and police check
