About the role
We are seeking a suitably qualified and highly motivated Manager - People & Culture.
This is a full-time, fixed term (5 years) operational hands-on role, responsible for overseeing and managing the range of Human Resources activities across the College related to an employee’s life cycle. In addition, the role coordinates and oversees Blue Card screening processes.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the delivery of a wide range of initiatives designed to build people management capability in leaders and promote positive working relationships between leaders, teams, and individual staff members.
* Ensure the successful operational service delivery of people related processes across the College.
* Maintain internal people data systems and provide support to the Principal, Deputy Principal and Director of Business Services to develop a Strategic Workforce Plan that remains fit for purpose.
* Oversee the development and maintenance of effective recruitment, onboarding and exiting policies, procedures and processes, ensuring ongoing compliance and reporting requirements are met and hiring managers are appropriately skilled.
* Support the implementation of the Enterprise Agreement and work with relevant parties to ensure compliance with the instrument and that all clauses of the Agreement are effectively implemented.
* In conjunction with Payroll, maintain the accuracy and currency of employee wages and entitlements in accordance with relevant industrial agreements, Fair Work practices and individual contracts.
* Support and provide operational advice on the implementation of effective termination, dispute resolution and change management or other employment relations issues.
* Undertake investigations or seek appropriate advice on employment relations issues as and when required or directed.
* Coordinate Staff Consultative Committee (SCC) meeting scheduling, agenda compilation and minute completion.
* Support managers to encourage high performance or appropriately remedy poor or under performance, as per performance management policies and procedures, legislation and compliance requirements.
* Assist managers to identify training needs and support the appropriate development of employees, ensuring learning initiatives contribute to the retention of competent, capable, and engaged employees.
* Assist to identify and analyse associated people management risks, develop mitigation strategies, and provide guidance on implementation to reduce risk.
* Coordinate Blue Card screening processes to ensure ongoing compliance (Staff, contractors, volunteers, and guests).
* Coordinate the Blue Card Organisational Representative meetings.
* Coordinate the preparation of compliance reports (e.g., QCT Annual Compliance Audit and WGEA report).
* Oversee and provide advice to managers about the rehabilitation of injured staff requiring variation of duties if required.
* Support the development and delivery of appropriate staff wellbeing activities.
The ideal candidate will be a team player who has strong organisational and interpersonal skills, along with a collaborative and empathetic approach. You will have:
* Tertiary qualification in related discipline or equivalent years of professional experience (3 to 5 years’ experience, including staff management).
* Strong generalist HR knowledge and practical understanding of best practice in all HR functions, tools, policy and practice
* Experience of working in an educational environment or similar industry is essential.
* Working knowledge of Australian Employment related legislation and compliance requirements.
* Solid understanding and appreciation of Child Safe and Working with Children Blue Card legislation, cultural safety and compliance requirements.
* Ability to obtain Rehabilitation Return to Work Coordinator certification.
* Proficient across the Microsoft Office suite.
