Full Time position

* Excellent hourly rate + 11.5% superannuation

Albury Wodonga Aboriginal Health Service (AWAHS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation that provides first-class primary health care services to the Aboriginal community in Albury, Wodonga, and surrounding areas. Their mission is to deliver comprehensive, quality health and family services that respect Aboriginal culture.

AWAHS' services are comprehensive and highly personalised; they recognise that each person’s experience will be different and their needs, as individuals, are unique.

As a Mental Health Worker, you will assess the mental health wellness needs of clients and their families and join AWAHS in promoting acceptance of people with mental health issues and reducing stigma in the community.

The role will require you to:

* Engage with families, carers, and clients affected by issues using a client-focused approach
* Provide case management to support clients effectively
* Deliver culturally sensitive and holistic programs and services to promote social and emotional wellbeing among Aboriginal people
* Increase accessibility of mental health services within the local Aboriginal community
* Empower the local Aboriginal community to take charge of their health and family wellbeing
* Foster relationships with mainstream health providers to enhance mental health service delivery

You will bring to this role:

* Experience working in the mental health sector and/or an appropriate formal qualification in the field of health/social or behavioural sciences
* Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures with established local community connections
* Experience in goal setting, connecting individuals and families with the right people, support services and opportunities to meet their needs
* Ability to cultivate effective relationships with peers and clients
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
* Commitment to collaborative teamwork and the delivery of comprehensive community services
