Overview

School Psychologist role at the Department of Education, Western Australia. This is a permanent part-time (0.4 FTE) position commencing Term 4, 2025. Applecross Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a motivated School Psychologist to join their supportive team. The start date can be negotiated for the successful applicant.


Responsibilities

* Develop and maintain positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders; consult widely and work effectively with the Student Services team, students and parents.
* Provide direct student support and contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of whole-school wellbeing programs in collaboration with staff to promote a positive school culture, resilience and mental health initiatives across all year levels.
* Work with students ranging from individuals through small groups to whole cohorts; support high performing students with tailored strategies to manage academic pressure and maintain wellbeing.
* Be an active member of the case management team, contributing to planning and intervention strategies that support student wellbeing and engagement; align with the school's core values of Personal Best and Mutual Respect to foster a safe, inclusive learning environment.
* Collaborate with the Student Services team to identify and respond to emerging needs within the school community.


Qualifications and Eligibility

* Hold or be eligible for provisional or general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start.
* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.


Selection Criteria

* Demonstrated ability to implement school psychology services and programs in an educational environment to maximise student learning outcomes.
* Demonstrated knowledge of the implementation and evaluation of a variety of psychological approaches appropriate for individual, group and system-level intervention.
* Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills, including the capacity to produce correspondence, reports and case notes, and interview and training (facilitation).
* Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a self-directed manner and as part of an interdisciplinary team with a range of clients and partners.
* Demonstrated ability to apply analytical and conceptual skills to issues identification, risk assessment and analysis, intervention and evaluation.
