Job Summary

This is a part-time Research Assistant position in a hybrid work arrangement. You will be working on a fixed-term basis from January 2027 to December 2027.

The salary for this role is between $76,284 - $83,268 (pro rata, part-time) with 17% superannuation.

About the Role:

As a Research Assistant for the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, you will be involved in a large program focused on plant-based protein diets and their effects on muscle health in older adults. Key tasks include conducting randomised controlled trials, managing subject recruitment and study logistics, dietary intervention, health assessments, sample collection, and surveys.


Key Responsibilities

* Provide high-level support to the research team members
* Manage subject recruitment, logistics of the study, including dietary intervention, health assessments, assisting with blood and muscle collection and surveys
* Consult with research staff for administrative support activities, such as meeting coordination, drafting presentations, papers, reports, maintaining databases and administrative systems
* Collaborate with research academic staff and laboratory technicians on research project delivery, implementing quality control systems and procedures
* Coordinate significant events such as seminars, visits, conferences, and symposia
* Utilise research specific IT systems and applications for research and analysis, including data modeling, data mining


Qualifications and Skills

* A degree from a recognised university in a relevant field, along with experience as a research administrator or an equivalent combination of experience and training
* Comfortable working independently without close guidance or supervision
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and analytical skills with the ability to produce clear, succinct reports and documents requiring interaction with others
* Well-developed analytical skills, with the ability to interpret policies and procedures, investigate research opportunities, and decipher funding requirements
* Experience undertaking research publications data collection processes and conducting randomised clinical trials involving humans (desirable)
