Job Description
This is a remote position.
Role Overview
The Estimator / BOQ Surveyor plays a pivotal role in ensuring a seamless transition from Sales and Tendering through to Construction by delivering accurate quantity take-offs, detailed BOQs, cost validation, and procurement support.
This role is primarily accountable for Estimating/ BOQ Surveying, taking over won projects from Sales or Tender teams and converting approved quotes into fully detailed, build-ready jobs. The role also supports commercial and industrial tenders, working closely with senior estimators to ensure accuracy, compliance with Australian standards, and margin protection.
In addition, the role contributes to procurement coordination and post-handover feedback, ensuring estimating accuracy continuously improves through real construction outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Take over won projects from Sales or Tender teams and convert approved quotes into detailed, build-ready jobs.
* Perform full quantity take-offs from drawings, plans, specifications, and engineering documents.
* Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs) to support production estimates and tender submissions.
* Conduct mark-ups and highlight key specifications, exclusions, and risks.
* Confirm scope against final contract documentation and approved designs.
* Define material, labour, and subcontractor requirements to support profitable project delivery.
* Review and validate Sales Estimates and Quotes for buildability, material selection, and cost accuracy.
* Collaborate with senior and lead estimators on complex, high-value, commercial, and industrial projects.
* Provide estimating support during peak demand periods or large tenders.
Requirements
* Minimum 2 years of Australian industrial or commercial construction experience.
* 3–5 years' experience as a Production Estimator, BOQ Surveyor, or Estimator.
* Strong capability in quantity take-offs, BOQs, and scope documentation.
* Solid understanding of commercial and industrial plans, engineering drawings, and specifications.
* Proficiency in CostX (essential).
* Strong knowledge of Australian construction standards and practices.
* Highly organised, process-driven, and able to manage multiple workflows concurrently.
* Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (preferred).
