Opportunity for Emerging Artists

We welcome passionate individuals who are dedicated to creative learning and engagement. We especially welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds.

Overview of the Position

This position offers a unique opportunity for early career artists to develop their skills and practice in a supportive environment. Working 3 days a week for six months, you will be mentored by industry experts to gain invaluable experience in an interactive exhibition space.

As part of a collaborative team, this position will engage directly with audiences of all ages and abilities, supporting the delivery of public engagement and school workshops. Through on-the-job mentorship and practice sharing, you will explore methods that support social and emotional wellbeing.

This role is ideal for emerging artists who are passionate about working with children and families, education, community engagement, and participatory arts practice, and who are looking to develop as a Teaching Artist within a gallery context.

The position will work alongside lead artists, staff, and trained volunteers to support long-term exhibitions that have social and emotional impact.

The interview process will be in a workshop format, where eligible candidates will interact and collaborate amongst one another. The second stage of interviews for successful candidates will be an informal meeting to further discuss your skills and the role.

About the Ideal Candidate

We're looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, and curious individual who loves working with children and is passionate about the intersection of contemporary arts practice, gallery education, and community engagement. You are someone who thrives in collaborative environments, is confident communicating with people of all ages and abilities, and brings a generous approach to creative facilitation.

You are eager to grow as a Teaching Artist and excited by the opportunity to be mentored by industry leaders while contributing meaningfully to a space that values participation, process, and inclusivity. You may have experience in visual arts, performance, socially engaged practice, or interdisciplinary fields.

You are comfortable stepping into a gallery setting that is unpredictable and hands-on, and you bring a willingness to experiment, reflect, and learn as part of a wider team. A genuine interest in working with children and community groups, and a commitment to accessibility and inclusion, will be central to your success in this role.
