This is a site‑based leadership position at Callide Power Station, offering the opportunity to shape the performance and longevity of critical unit plant assets in a complex operating environment. As Mechanical Engineering Superintendent – Unit Plant (Boiler and Turbine Plant), you will support the Manager Engineering by leading a high‑performing mechanical engineering team, providing technical authority and direction to ensure assets are operated and maintained safely, reliably and cost‑effectively.
This role is ideal for a seasoned mechanical engineering leader who thrives at the intersection of people leadership, asset strategy and operational delivery. You’ll influence outcomes that matter - improving plant availability, strengthening asset integrity, driving whole‑of‑life performance and embedding a strong safety and engineering culture. Working closely with operations, maintenance and project teams, you’ll play a key role in capital delivery, plant change and regulatory compliance across the site.
Duties include but are not limited to:
* Lead, coach and develop the Mechanical Engineering – Unit Plant team, including supervision of non‑RPEQ engineers.
* Provide technical authority and oversight for unit plant assets to ensure safety, reliability and lifecycle performance.
* Plan, prioritise and manage engineering work programs, resources and budgets aligned to site and operational needs.
* Identify, assess and mitigate key mechanical and asset‑related risks, ensuring critical controls remain effective.
* Ensure statutory, legislative and regulatory compliance for assigned plant and equipment.
* Drive improvements in plant performance, availability and cost‑effectiveness through robust engineering solutions.
* Develop and implement maintenance and engineering strategies using reliability‑centred maintenance principles.
* Scope, direct and manage external engineering service providers and specialist contractors.
* Lead and manage plant change processes, ensuring governance, documentation and records management requirements are met.
* Initiate, sponsor and deliver engineering projects aligned to asset management and plant improvement strategies.
* Contribute to investigations, performance reporting and technical forums as required.
* From time to time, act in the role of Manager Engineering.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and experience:
* A Bachelor of Engineering in a relevant discipline, or equivalent qualifications.
* RPEQ certification.
* Extensive experience (10–15+ years) within thermal power generation (highly desirable) or a comparable heavy industry environment.
* Strong understanding and practical application of Asset Management principles, including equipment strategy development, business risk management, root cause analysis (RCA), and plant modifications.
* Proven knowledge of key processes, including plant modification, enterprise risk management, whole‑of‑life asset planning, capital budget development, and continuous improvement.
* Demonstrated capability in project and cost management, with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
* Experience leading teams or work groups, with a focus on delivering outcomes and fostering collaboration.
