Deflector Operation
The Deflector Operation includes two high-grade, narrow vein Gold/Copper mines located 160km east of Geraldton. The ore is contained within structurally complex lodes, specifically the Deflector and Deflector South West deposits.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Mining Superintendent, the Graduate Mining Engineer will support the Deflector Technical Services team by delivering detailed drill and blast designs, mine designs, and schedules. This role offers practical experience towards obtaining the First-Class WA Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency and involves working safely in compliance with all company standards, guidelines, and procedures.
Work Schedule
The position is offered on either an 8:6 or 15:13 roster, FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in developing and executing mine plans, including ventilation, backfill, and drill-and-blast designs.
Follow instructions from senior engineers.
Collaborate with technical services teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
Complete tasks safely and on schedule.
Participate in planning and production meetings.
Conduct underground inspections.
Help prepare weekly and monthly mining schedules.
Candidate Profile
Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering with up to 2 years of underground mining experience.
Knowledge of WA Mining Act, Regulations, and WHS Act.
Proactive and committed to safety.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Driver's license (C Class) and First Aid certification preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office; experience with Deswick or Datamine advantageous.
