The opportunity
This position is for an inserter machine operator to run an inserting machine within our mail house operations. The candidate will be required during seasonal peak periods each quarter throughout the year.
Experience in running an inserting machine is preferable but not critical, as would previous experience in a mail house environment, and having an understanding of the mail lodgement process.
The candidate will be a mechanically minded individual with good problem solving skills.
What you'll be doing
• Setting up, operating and monitoring inserters, folders and finishing gear
• Loading paper and envelopes, and keeping jobs running cleanly
• Checking output against proofs and catching issues before they become problems
• Clearing jams, sorting registration, and handling the small faults that come with production machines
• Routine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance
• Hitting daily volumes and dispatch cut-offs so ratepayers get their notices on time
• Sharing your know-how with the rest of the crew
What we're looking for
• Real, hands-on experience running inserting or finishing machinery.
• Confident with changeovers and basic fault-finding
• A trade background in Printing or Finishing is a plus, but years on the floor count just as much
• Reliable, easy to work with, and you turn up when you say you will
• Comfortable on your feet for a shift and within safe manual handling limits
• Open to shift work during peak — early starts, late finishes or the occasional weekend
• Fluent English, written and spoken
• Legally authorised to work in Australia
