LAUNDRY MANAGER

OUR ROLE:
JKAH is seeking an experienced Laundry Manager for a property in Darwin NT.
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
* To guide and lead the laundry team and enforce the Jani-King program including Policies and Procedures, Training and Operations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
People
* Answering calls which relate to the running of the Laundry Department
* Maintaining operation files and communication logs daily.
* Ensuring new staff are inducted and trained as per Jani King Policy
* Assist with the training of new staff members to the Jani King standard
* To arrange the daily workload of all current staff members
Customer Focus
* Developing and displaying an attitude and willingness to help others, in all dealings with hotel customers, fellow employees and hotel management.
* Liaising with suppliers such as laundry chemicals, amenities and other suppliers to ensure there is always sufficient stock on hand to keep the operation running.
* Ensuring that any guest complaints and comments are prioritized and dealt with immediately.
* Ensuring that the presentation of guest laundry and dry cleaning is always to the required standard
Productivity
* To contribute to keeping wage costs down by assisting the team in the laundry.
* Monitoring of the workload and quality of Laundry Attendants to ensure they are consistently working as efficiently as possible.
* To ensure all properties needs are met by keeping track of all send and return sheets and being aware of any special needs on given days.
Planning
* To create a roster for the staff and update it daily according to the requirements of the business
* To anticipate the needs of the different properties according to occupancy and guest movement and ensure there is sufficient stock of clean linen.
* To ensure that all machinery is checked and maintained on a regular basis
* To co-ordinate the requisition of supplies and materials
Quality
* To ensure all linen is keep in good condition
* To ensure all linen rejected as being torn, worn or too badly stained is taken out of circulation and recorded
* To ensure any dirty linen is rewashed as required
* To ensure all guest laundry is checked before returning to the guest
Safety
* Ensure personal safety and safety of other team members through constant reinforcement
* Not adversely affecting the safety and health of others in the workplace.
* Undertaking all tasks in accordance with Jani-King procedures.
* Consulting and cooperating with OSH representatives, Safety Committee and supervisor on safety and health issues.
* Identify, rectifying and/or reporting hazards and or potential hazards in the workplace.
* Assist the Safety Committee to investigate accidents or injuries in the workplace.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
* Knowledge and experience in the commercial laundry industry (Preferable)
* Fluency in English. (written and spoken).
* Computer skills: Intermediate Level in Word and Excel
* Leadership to drive team motivation and manage performance
* Exceptional verbal communication skills
* Polished presentation, high standard of cleanliness and attention to detail
* Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
* Excellent time management and organisational skills
* Ability to lift equipment with a weight up to 30kg.
* Able to work in a physically demanding role where they may be required to spend the majority of the day on their feet
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
