The day to day
Responsibilities
In this role, you'll oversee the smooth and efficient running of our Canberra laboratory, ensuring quality, client service, and safety standards are exceeded. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Managing day-to-day laboratory operations and production workflows
* Leading, mentoring, and developing multiple teams across disciplines
* Delivering on financial performance, P&L, and budget targets
* Building strong client relationships and delivering to service contracts
* Driving innovation through automation, R&D, and new services
* Ensuring NATA accreditation and ISO17025 compliance are maintained
* Promoting a proactive HSE culture across all laboratory activity
* Representing ALS at industry events, sharing insights and trends
The Essentials
We're looking for a confident, people-first leader with a strong technical and business background. You'll bring:
* A degree in Science (preferably Chemistry or Microbiology)
* 10+ years of laboratory experience, including 5+ years in leadership
* Strong business acumen, including P&L and financial reporting
* A collaborative and motivational leadership style
* Deep understanding of laboratory quality standards and safety systems
* Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement and innovation
