Deliver technical support for Health Sciences laboratory activities by preparing materials, operating and maintaining equipment, managing stock, and keeping facilities clean, tidy and safe in accordance with safety and regulatory requirements.
About the Position
As the Technical Officer - Health Sciences you will provide high-quality technical and operational support for pharmacy-based laboratory draft activities within the Faculty of Health. You will be responsible for setting up classes, maintaining laboratory resources and accurate records and documentation, including chemical and biological inventories, safety data sheets, and waste handling, storage, and disposal registers, to ensure compliance with University policies and relevant regulatory and safety requirements. You will also provide support for Faculty and University events, including community engagement activities conducted both on and off campus.
About You
To be successful, you will require:
* Completion of a degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and training.
* Sound knowledge and proficiency in general and advanced laboratory techniques, equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, as well as associated Information Technology and documentation skills.
* Awareness and commitment to Workplace Health and Safety obligations and procedures.
* High level of written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including collaborating with colleagues across Faculties.
* Demonstrable ability to work well within a team as well as independently with minimal supervision.
* Demonstrable ability to organise work effectively and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining motivation to meet required deadlines.
* Commitment to the University's values.
Desirable competencies
* Demonstrable ability to maintain and lead the development and implementation of technical procedures, including reviewing and updating documentation and other governance-related processes.
* Familiarity with the Global Harmonised System (GHS) of classification and labelling of chemicals and chemical databases such as ChemWatch.
Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at Professional Level 5. The base salary will be in the range of $75,927 – $87,716 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $88,834 - $102,627 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
