About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Darwin to support the construction of major airport and airfield infrastructure works at RAAF Darwin.
This is a site-based, full-time role for approximately 2 to 2.5 years, providing long-term stability on a high-profile Defence project. The role includes Level 1 supervision of earthworks, geotechnical inspections, testing oversight, and close collaboration with construction teams.
Regular Saturday work will be required.

Key Responsibilities
* Level 1 supervision of earthworks in accordance with project specifications and standards
* Site-based geotechnical support during bulk earthworks and pavement construction
* Oversight of compaction, testing, and material compliance (fill, subgrade, subbase, base)
* Review of laboratory test results and assessment of compliance
* Identification and management of non-conformances
* Preparation of clear, concise earthworks supervision reports
* Liaison with contractors, project engineers, and client representatives
* Participation in site meetings and inspections

About You
Essential requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
* Minimum 6 years' relevant geotechnical experience
* Demonstrated experience undertaking Level 1 earthworks supervision
* Strong understanding of earthworks, pavement materials, and compaction control
* Experience on civil infrastructure projects (airports, roads, or major earthworks)
* Strong communication and reporting skills
* Ability to work full-time on site in Darwin, including Saturdays
Desirable:
* Experience on Defence, airport, or high-security infrastructure projects
* Familiarity with NT conditions and tropical soils
* CPEng or working toward chartership
* Experience with DLI, Austroads, or Defence specifications

* Valid Australian driver's licence
* Willingness to work in a tropical, site-based environment
