About the Role
As a Speech Language Pathologist with Townsville Catholic Education, you'll make a genuine difference supporting students to develop their communication, confidence and participation so they can engage fully in school life.
As part of the Inclusive Education Team, you'll work collaboratively with teachers, school leaders, families and specialist colleagues to deliver speech pathology services that promote and support effective inclusive practice. Your approach will be responsive to each school's context, maintain a student‐specific focus, and complement the services provided through TCE.
In this meaningful role, you'll use your professional expertise and compassionate approach to design and deliver evidence‐based assessment, planning and intervention that enhance communication, learning and wellbeing outcomes. You'll also build capability across schools through coaching, consultation and professional learning – embedding inclusive communication practices that help every learner reach their potential.
Guided by Catholic values, you'll embrace each school's mission and bring empathy, patience and understanding to every interaction, contributing to a culture of care, collaboration and respect.
Some travel will be required and facilitated by Townsville Catholic Education to support schools across our Diocese – from those in and around Townsville to more remote communities including Mount Isa, Proserpine and Palm Island. This variety offers a unique opportunity to connect with diverse school communities and make a lasting impact across Far North Queensland.
Two opportunities are available within the team, including one full‐time role (38 hours per week) and one part‐time role (19 hours per week).
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you'll hold a tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and current membership (or eligibility) with Speech Pathology Australia. You'll bring strong communication, problem‐solving and organisational skills, along with experience supporting children and young people with diverse learning and communication needs. A current Driver's Licence and the ability to travel within the Diocese are also required.
Townsville Catholic Education has standards of conduct for workers to maintain a safe and healthy environment for children. Our commitment to these standards requires that we conduct working with children checks and background referencing for all staff. The organisation is fully committed to child safety and has a zero tolerance to abuse of children or adults‐at‐risk.
