Amazon's Global Procurement Organization (GPO) is seeking a Senior Category Manager to lead strategic construction procurement activities across our portfolio of multi-million-dollar real estate projects.
As a key member of our Construction Category Procurement Pillar, you'll have the opportunity to make a significant impact on Amazon's growth and sustainability in Australia.

Key job responsibilities
Develop and execute construction category sourcing strategies across different supply chain tiers (General Contractors, Subcontractors, Suppliers, OEMs) and geographies across Australia.
Increase Amazon's competitiveness, maintain continuity of supply, and mitigate risks across geographical and business unit boundaries; define opportunities to suit Amazon's needs.
Deep-dive into construction categories and regions to add value by identifying synergies, benchmarking, innovation, waste reduction, and economies of scale to increase competitive advantage.
Drive cost optimization through negotiation, standardization, value engineering, and supply chain improvements.
Build effective internal and external relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and partners to enable collaborative working and a productive environment; own strategic supplier relationships.
Negotiate, execute and manage framework agreements.
Support sustainability initiatives aligned with Amazon's Climate Pledge.
Provide market intelligence and strategic insights to stakeholders and procurement leadership to inform decision making.
Own targets across the construction category scope and identify/deliver incremental value and process improvements.
Innovate within procurement, automating and improving tools and processes to support the procurement lifecycle.
A day in the life
Lead procurement processes including prequalification, onboarding, tender management, evaluations, contract negotiations, and award recommendations, delivering to tight timescales and managing several schemes simultaneously.
Drive procurement of innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective construction services to support Operations teams and Amazon customers.
Serve as the key interface between project delivery and internal central teams from Design and Construction, Real Estate, Legal, and senior leadership of external supply chain partners.
Support supplier performance management together with Design and Construction partners.
Provide insight into the construction industry and supply chain to inform procurement strategies and strategic decisions.
Prepare high-quality white papers and gain buy-in from decision makers, influencing senior leadership decisions.
Adapt to different roles from strategy development to project management to meet customer needs.
About The Team
You'll join a growing team where strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and leadership are valued.
You'll partner with Design and Construction, Real Estate, Legal, and Finance to shape and execute innovative category strategies and deliver measurable value, sustainability initiatives, and best-in-class procurement practices across Australian operations.
Basic Qualifications
10+ years of experience in procurement, contract and/or commercial management within construction.
Experience developing procurement strategies for various construction supply chain tiers (General Contractors, Tier 2/3 Subcontractors, Suppliers, OEMs).
Understanding of construction industry contracts and procurement processes.
Experience negotiating large-scale construction contracts.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to manage complex relationships.
Willingness to travel up to 10%.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in a construction-related discipline (e.g., Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, Quantity Surveying).
