Role
An education support class worker performs tasks according to guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction.
Duties do not include teaching activities defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act **** (Vic).
Supervision of students may be required individually or in groups of up to four, with responsibility for students remaining with a teacher.
Qualifications of up to three years may be required, excluding Registered Nurse status which is covered by a separate level.
The role may include coordination of support staff, assistance to teachers in specific tasks, specialised support tasks (e.g. medical or specialised communication support), and routine technical tasks.
Responsibilities
Provide routine support for teachers, including assisting with student routine planning.
Support communication between teachers and parents.
Communicate with teachers on routine matters related to students and other responsibilities.
Provide basic physical care and wellbeing support for students such as toileting, meals, and lifting.
Communicate with students to help them understand basic tasks and information.
Address immediate behavioural presentations related to specific students within a classroom setting, aligned to school policy.
Provide basic support and supervision for individuals or small groups of up to four students.
Support teachers in coordinating educational programmes, including rostering, organising the work of a team of aides, coordinating routine tasks, and liaising with external support services.
Provide medical intervention support to students where appropriately trained and guided.
Provide specialised communication support for students and teachers (e.g. AUSLAN and Braille).

The successful applicant will assist teachers in delivering a modified classroom programme and help students develop social skills and interaction with peers.
Hours: 8:45 a.m. – 3:21 p.m., Monday to Friday.
