What You'll do (the role)
SUMMARY
Integral daily management of large-scale solar plants in Australia, ensuring best practice for safety, quality, and environmental performance, whilst enhancing the overall returns and value of each project and complying with all applicable contractual agreements. Support process optimization for Asset Management operations in Australia, streamlining and aligning with global processes to allow scale.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General management requirements
* Contribute to developing policies, processes, and procedures to ensure all relevant procedural/legislative and contract requirements are fulfilled.
* Manage a portfolio of up to 5 sites with a capacity of approximately 1000MW, all located in Australia.
* Maximize total return for each asset through analysis of system efficiencies and identifying opportunities for improved performance.
* Establish collaborative relationships with EPC & O&M contractors to maximize safe asset performance and operation.
* Build strong team relationships and establish effective communication and collaboration practices with client-owners.
* Support divestment initiatives as required and in line with business strategy.
Daily Asset Management operation
* Manage day-to-day operations of the Asset Management organization, providing guidance, encouraging teamwork, and facilitating related professional work processes to achieve high performance standards.
* Review and manage all SPVs contracts for obligations and other contractual parties, including insurance.
Performance and monitoring
* Review site performance and analyze potential optimization projects/actions.
* Regularly review site performance on monitoring platforms.
* Monitor and control all financial budgets.
* Conduct monthly reviews of operational and financial KPIs, identifying opportunities for improvement.
* Assist Financial Manager with analysis of P&L variance and cash flow forecasts, and solar plant budgets.
* Prepare stakeholder reports.
* Manage the sub-portfolio from commercial, financial, and technical perspectives, liaising with internal and external stakeholders including clients.
Contract management
* Oversee main contractors (including EPC and O&M) to ensure compliance with obligations.
* Manage contractual processes such as PAC, IAC, FAC with EPC Contractors in coordination with the Technical department.
* Monitor and influence all maintenance and O&M activities.
* Maintain and grow good relations with all contractual parties and manage potential contract modifications.
* Manage energy sales operations and approve plant payments.
* Handle accounting and accounts payable processes.
* Sign off on invoice collections.
* Recommend unbudgeted costs.
* Assist Energy Sales team with revenue collection from FIT/ROC and market electricity.
* Facilitate onboarding from project to operational management.
* Develop and monitor compliance calendars for contracts and activities.
* Review and manage all SPV contracts, including insurance.
Who we're looking for
Knowledge
* Knowledge of the Australian and global renewables market, especially large-scale solar PV and battery storage.
* Understanding of key contracts and critical stakeholder management for solar or battery assets.
* Knowledge of the asset lifecycle for solar and BESS.
* Technical knowledge of large-scale solar and battery assets (preferable).
* Strong process orientation and technical IT skills supporting automation.
* Proficiency in SAP financial systems.
Experience
* At least 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in the solar market.
* Experience with financial investors, IPPs, or vertically integrated developers in renewables.
* Proven track record in delivering FAC processes and O&M handovers.
Personal/Work Skills
* Problem-solving and proactive attitude.
* Detail-oriented and well-organized.
* Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
* Fluent in English.
* Experience managing sites remotely.
* Driving license is advantageous for site visits.
* Strong technical IT skills (Excel, PowerBI, etc.).
Education and Qualifications
* Degree in a subject relevant to the renewable industry.
