**About the Role**

Join our team as the manager of the** Acute Neuropsychology Unit **on a part time basis (3 days per week).The **Acute Neuropsychology Unit Manager** provides direction and operational oversight of the Acute Neuropsychology Unit services and operational oversight and resource management for the psychology workforce in Children's Cancer Centre. The position involves ensuring the provision of responsive, evidence-based neuropsychology services for adult inpatient and outpatients at Monash Health and also provides secondary consultation to numerous teams and a broad range of relevant stakeholders regarding the formulation, treatment and management of patients with complex clinical presentations.

The manager ensures the efficient use of resources to deliver a high quality, evidence based, patient focused service in which the key performance indicators are achieved. They lead the development of the service and staff and contribute to the quality of psychological services at Monash Health. Although this role will be based primarily at the Monash Medical Centre, sometimes travel to, and work from, other Monash Health sites is required.

**About Us**

**Psychology and Specialist Services (PsySS)** is responsible for the professional governance of all Psychologists across Monash Health which includes the professional supervision of psychologists, psychology workforce development, the Psychology Registrar Program and for all Post-Graduate Psychology Student Placements across Monash Health.

PsySS also holds operational responsibility for the BeWell staff wellbeing and support program for all Monash Health Employees and a number of clinical programs including the Acute Neuropsychology Unit, the agile Psychological Medicine Clinic, the agile Comprehensive Care initiative, the Forensic Mental Health Team, Rehabilitation and Aged Care Psychology, and the Wellness and Recovery Centre (eating disorder service).

**Acute Neuropsychology Unit**

The Neuropsychology Unit provides inpatient and outpatient services to Monash Health patients, and comes under the Psychology and Specialist Services Program of Monash Health. The Neuropsychology Unit provides inpatient consultation for all acute adult services (medical, oncology, cardiac and surgical units, excluding mental health), in addition to an outpatient neuropsychology clinic for active Monash Health patients. Outpatient referral sources are wide ranging, but are predominantly received from Monash Neurology, which includes General Neurology, Cognitive, Stroke, Epilepsy, Movement Disorders, Deep Brain Stimulation, Multiple Sclerosis and Neuropsychiatry clinics. Other outpatient frequent referral sources include Neurosurgery, Rheumatology, Haematology, Oncology, Nephrology, Cardiology and Emergency Medicine. Decision-making capacity assessments and pre-post neurosurgical/treatment evaluations are frequent referral requests.

The Neuropsychology Unit also leads the implementation of the Monash Health post-traumatic amnesia (PTA) in concussion/traumatic brain injury (TBI) procedure. This includes outpatient follow-up of mild TBI patients, in addition to education and training of staff about assessment and management of PTA. The Neuropsychology Unit works collaboratively with inpatient and outpatient Medical, Nursing and Allied Health staff to enhance patient outcomes.

- Demonstrated competencies and effectiveness as a professional leader of staff, including other psychologists, and health professionals
- Well-developed clinical and analytical skills relevant to the area of practice.
- Well-developed change management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to a wide audience, particularly in relation to consultation, problem solving, influencing, conflict resolution and people management
- Strong conceptual skills, demonstrated innovation, and good contextual awareness combined with an understanding of organisational relationships, systems thinking and processes
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and proven leadership in professional standards and ethics
- Research, evaluation and/or project management skills
- Experience with managing portfolios/projects independently
- Proficient computer skills
- A broad understanding of the Victorian health system
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation and policies
- Experience in a senior managerial and/or senior clinical role in acute health, neurology or diagnostic neuropsychology settings
