Senior Legal Counsel - Consumer Banking/ Fintech Opportunity
This prominent fintech organisation seeks a Senior Legal Counsel to join its dynamic team, offering a unique chance to contribute to the company's robust growth and continued success.
Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, you will join a high-performing legal and compliance team, providing support and advice on a range of issues including consumer credit, financial regulation, privacy, and general commercial matters.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide legal and compliance advice to all business units, including responding to ad-hoc requests, drafting policy documents, preparing responses to complaints, and reviewing marketing materials
* Advising the business on regulatory requirements and providing pragmatic solutions for new products and features
* Drafting, reviewing and negotiating various types of commercial agreements
* Managing legal and regulatory risks across all relevant internal business units, material activities, and projects
* Advising on PPSR issues, particularly in commercial asset finance transactions
* Supporting the Chief Legal Officer with project-based and discrete activities in alignment with the organisation's strategic framework
* Monitor and provide advice on changes in relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
* Liaise with external bodies and regulators as required
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* 10+ years post qualification experience with in-house legal experience as well as a strong law firm background
* Knowledge of consumer credit regulatory framework
* Experience in Commercial Asset Finance
* Knowledge of AML/CTF, Australian consumer credit and privacy regimes
* Ability to understand and troubleshoot complex commercial legal and regulatory problems, consult with relevant stakeholders, and propose practical solutions
* Senior stakeholder management skills including internal as well as with external partners
* Strong collaborative, organisational and project management abilities
