Technical Writer – Defence

We're currently recruiting for a technical writer to create and publish documentation for defence systems. This is a full-time, permanent onsite position based in the South Canberra district.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Develop and write technical publications, manuals, and documentation for defence systems
* Liaise with engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to identify documentation needs
* Review and edit technical and non-technical content for clarity and accuracy
* Create graphics, diagrams, and illustrations to support technical content
* Ensure documentation meets relevant standards and client requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Engineering or Trade qualifications (Cert IV and above)
* Strong background in technical writing within Defence, engineering, or related industries
* Knowledge or experience in electro‑mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC and/or radio frequency (RF) systems
* Excellent written communication skills, including ability to write in Plain English
* Exposure to relevant standards and tools such as DEF (Aust) 5692B, S1000D, Solidworks, CATIA CAD, and XML/structured authoring would be highly regarded
