Role Summary
In the next phase of recruitment in preparation for 2026, we are now seeking applications for a Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator (WWTP). This is a 12-month fixed term position and will commence as soon as possible.
We are seeking applications from flexible candidates; while this position will predominately be day work, you will be willing and able to provide coverage when required across Day/Night and Day/Afternoon.
WWTP operators play a critical role in managing the waste streams from the factory ensuring compliance with quality, environmental and regulatory standards. They are responsible for operating, monitoring and maintaining the systems, equipment and organisms used to manage and treat wastewater generated during pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate, monitor and maintain wastewater treatment systems and associated utilities to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality and regulatory requirements.
* Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to manage waste streams from pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
* Liaise with manufacturing departments to coordinate the treatment of waste, particularly during non-routine discharges, ensuring timely communication and compliance with site protocols.
* Conduct routine inspections, testing, sampling and data logging to monitor plant performance and maintain treatment effectiveness.
* Participate in environmental audits, inspections, investigations and follow-up actions related to wastewater treatment activities.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimisation, energy efficiency, and reduction of environmental impact.
* Participate in relevant safety (EHS) and quality meetings, training, toolbox talks, and contribute to a culture of continuous safety and environmental awareness.
* Provide accurate and detailed handover during shift changeover to ensure continuity and awareness across shifts.

* Experience in wastewater treatment, chemical processing, or similar industrial operations.
* Strong understanding of environmental and safety compliance, with a commitment to safe work practices.
* Ability to operate and monitor treatment systems using control systems like SCADA, Delta V, or Citect.
* High attention to detail with accurate documentation and adherence to GMP and quality procedures.
* Proactive problem-solver with strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to respond to plant issues effectively.
* A team-oriented mindset with clear communication skills and the ability to work all hours required.
