Bowral & District Hospital is looking for Health and Security Assistants (HASA) to join a dedicated team working collaboratively to support the safe and effective management of patients. In this role, you will contribute to maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, patients, and visitors, while assisting clinical staff with the care and comfort of patients.
You will also play an important role in securing South Western Sydney Local Health District assets and supporting day‑to‑day hospital operations in a professional and respectful manner.
Are You the Right Fit?
Candidates must hold a current NSW Class 1A Security Licence in accordance with the Security Industry Act 1997, a current First Aid Certificate, and a valid Australian C‑Class driver's licence (including P1 or P2). Applicants holding a C‑Class licence issued by another state must obtain a NSW C‑Class licence within three months of appointment, and learner licences are not accepted. Candidates must be willing to participate in a 7‑day rotating roster that includes morning, afternoon, and night shifts, weekends, and public and school holidays, and must demonstrate an understanding of and willingness to work within a morgue environment.
Candidates must demonstrate computer literacy at a data‑entry level and possess effective written and verbal communication skills to engage appropriately with staff, patients, clients, and members of the public. A sound understanding of security techniques—including conflict resolution, de‑escalation, restraint practices, manual handling, and infection control—is essential, along with a strong commitment to maintaining safety, dignity, and professionalism within a healthcare setting.
NOTE: HASA, like other NSW Health staff, must contact the police if there is suspected criminal activity on or around a NSW Health premises. HASA staff must not place themselves, or be expected by others to place themselves, at unnecessary risk in carrying out their duties. Where there are concerns about public safety the police should be called.

* Sound understanding of the application of security techniques including conflict resolution skills, de-escalation and restraint practices, manual handling and infection control.
* Do you have a current NSW Security Licence in accordance with the NSW Security Industry 1997 Class 1A?
