Our services create intentional avenues for young people to explore opportunities, build support networks, and access, participate and contribute to their communities. Oasis cafes are training cafes that provide valuable vocational training and employment pathways for young people.
About The Role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Chef to operate the Oasis cafe and provide training and supervision to students and volunteers for food preparation and serving, ordering of stock and equipment, the delivery of vocational training in hospitality and commercial cookery, supervision of café staff and work experience students for Oasis cafés across the Central Coast and Hunter regions.
Reporting to the Team Leader, this is casual position based in Wyong, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Labour Market Assistance Industry Award.
You will successfully
* Prepare meals and oversee commercial kitchen operations, ensuring high standards in food quality, hygiene, and WHS compliance.
* Develop and price menus with Team Leader; review café operations for efficiency.
* Maintain kitchen equipment and ensure safe, clean facilities per legislation and food safety standards.
* Deliver and plan vocational training courses, managing student attendance and meeting RTO requirements.
* Gather and act on feedback to improve programs and services.
* Participate actively in team meetings, training, and WHS activities; report hazards promptly.
* Uphold TSA values, engage in professional development, and support continuous improvement and best practice.
You will have
* Minimum 3 years industry experience in the hospitality sector
* Experience supervising trainees or students
* Experience as a vocational trainer (desirable)
* Commercial Cookery or Hospitality qualification
* Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
