Spend Time with a Travel-Loving Retired Nurse & Her World of Stories
Are you someone who enjoys meaningful conversations, a good laugh, and the simple joy of connecting with others?
In Lithgow, there's a remarkable elderly woman who would love to share her stories with someone new. A retired nurse with a lifetime of caring for others, she's explored over 70 countries and has a Starbucks mug collection that could rival a souvenir shop (yes, every mug has a story... and yes, you'll probably hear them all).
Life has become a little quieter lately. With her husband requiring high care at home, getting out into the community isn't easy, and those everyday social connections are deeply missed.
What this is about:
This is simply about connection.
A friendly visit. A shared cuppa. A few laughs.
What you'll do:
* Visit for one hour, weekly or fortnightly
* Chat, listen, and enjoy good company
* Be welcomed into a home filled with stories, warmth, and a lot of mugs
* Flexible between 9am – 5pm, whatever works for you
Your time will bring companionship, brighten someone's week, and gently reconnect two people to the world beyond their front door.
And you? You'll walk away with stories from around the globe, a few laughs, and that quiet, lovely feeling of having made someone's day.
Sometimes the smallest visits leave the biggest footprints.
Your impact
Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.
HammondCare is an independent Christian charity and we're passionate about improving the quality of life for people in need. We have a wonderful group of volunteers that partner with us to enhance the lives of the clients cared for by HammondCare.
HammondCare is a provider of The Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme funded by the Australian Government and is established to promote links between elderly people and volunteers in their local community.

Requirements
* 18 years or older
* National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare
We'd be happy to discuss a suitable time during the week for a one hour visit between 9am and 5pm Monday to Sunday, visits could be weekly to fortnightly depending on your availability.
