lead a dedicated Team in the management of the City's
urban forest.
About
the RoleThe position will lead the newly created Urban
Forest Team within the Parks & Conservation Management Service
Unit, providing leadership, support and guidance to team members to
allow them to thrive and deliver outputs aligned to the Parks and
Conservation Management Service Unit Plan, Street Tree Policy,
Urban Forest Strategy and other key corporate plans and
strategies.
Key outcomes of
the role include providing leadership to the Urban Forest Team,
thinking strategically and managing change, engaging with internal
and external stakeholders and ensuring the efficient and effective
management of the City's urban forest and actions through the
Urban Forest Strategy. Managing financial resources through
effective budget management and governance whilst managing
compliance and risk are also key aspects of the
position.
The role also
forms part of the Parks and Conservation Management Leadership Team
responsible for leading the Service Unit aligned to City's
Values and objectives.
About
youAs an experienced leader, you will use your
extensive background and tertiary qualifications in a relevant
discipline such as Arboriculture or Horticulture along with
leadership and management qualifications to lead the newly created
Urban Forest Sub-Unit, providing leadership and guidance to the
team and providing technical advice relating to urban forest
management and arboricultural matters to internal and external
stakeholders.
You will
require the following skills and knowledge to be considered for
the role:
* Extensive knowledge in
arboricultural practices and tree management.
* Knowledge of business
planning, resource planning and budget management.
* Knowledge in contract
management.
* Extensive knowledge of
relevant legislation and regulations.
* Advanced
people management skills to direct, manage, evaluate and
motivate staff.
* Advanced
communication (written, verbal and public speaking) and
problem-solving skills.
* Advanced
research and analytical skills.
* Advanced
negotiation and influencing skills.
* Advanced
organisational skills.
* Advanced
skills in the efficient utilisation of information systems and
technology.
* Knowledge of the
practical application of occupational health and safety
measures in the workplace, including risk assessment and
control implementation.
