About The Role
The Safety Performance, Compliance & Risk Lead drives health and safety governance, assurance, and risk management across the City of Melbourne. You'll ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic), the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 (Vic), and emerging psychosocial regulations, while embedding a transparent, data-driven approach to safety that strengthens both people and organisational performance.
You will be accountable for developing and maintaining safety governance, assurance, and performance reporting in addition to safety related policies and procedures – ensuring they are clear, capture all relevant legislation and are accessible for our diverse workforce.
You'll bring a collaborative approach to partnering with leaders, embedding safe practices and accountability, and delivering evidence-based reporting with actionable insights. Your work will keep us ahead of critical and emerging risks while driving continuous improvement across the organisation.

About You
This is an amazing opportunity for an experienced people leader, to add value in a for purpose environment – you will bring:
* Demonstrated experience in health and safety management within a complex, high-risk or multi-site environment.
* Leadership capability including leading by example and consistently working towards a constructive culture
* Strong safety governance and compliance awareness.
* Extensive experience managing and maintaining safety policies and procedures.
* Advanced data reporting and analysis skills, with the ability to turn insights into action.
* Proven experience creating and presenting reports at all organisational levels.
* Analytical and lateral thinking skills and the ability to take the initiative, drive change and implement innovations
