About the RoleThe City is seeking a fit motivated person to undertake general hand duties in the area of parks maintenance.
* The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Undertaking daily maintenance of the City's parks and infrastructure assets,
* Operating and maintaining tools and other equipment,
* Process documentation including individual timesheets and work orders,
* Provide support to new starters and contractors,
* Liaise with colleagues, contractors and the public,
* Undertake duties as directed by the Supervisor and Leading Hand,
* Undertake other activities including undergoing training and development as required for the execution of the role,
* Comply with all City policies and procedures and relevant legislation, and,
* Exercise duty of care in line with City Occupational Safety and Health Policies.
About youAs a collaborative member of the Assets Maintenance team, the position is accountable for undertaking general hand duties in the area of parks maintenance. The successful appointee must be adaptable and experienced in the parks maintenance industry. They must also thrive working in a very busy and change driven organisation.
As such, applicants must be able to demonstrate through their resume and covering letter that they meet the following capabilities:
* Knowledge and or relevant experience in practical application of Horticulture,
* The ability to manage and prioritise work requirements,
* Basic literacy and numeracy skills,
* Proven communication skills,
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Capable of physical manual labour
* C class vehicle licence (MR preferred)
* A positive, proactive approach to change and a willingness to work in any service unit across the City should it be operationally required
* Knowledge of the practical application of Occupational Health and Safety measures in the workplace including hazard identification in parks and reserves
* Experience in the efficient utilisation of information systems and technology
* Safety awareness card (White Card)
