About the Role A Federal Government Agency is seeking an experienced EL1Communications Lead to deliver strategic, coordinated, and high-impact communications for a six week contract with possible extension.
Reporting to the Manager, Communications and Engagement, you'll work to ensure clear, consistent, and effective communication of the assessment's purpose, findings, and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the implementation of a key communications strategy, aligning with project goals and government priorities.
* Develop high-quality content—articles, media releases, fact sheets, and multimedia materials—to communicate complex scientific information in accessible language.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver targeted communication activities, workshops, and public engagement.
* Monitor, evaluate, and report on communication effectiveness using data-driven insights to refine approaches.

About You You're an adaptable and strategic communicator with a proven record of delivering impactful communication initiatives in dynamic environments. You bring:
* A strong background in communications and stakeholder engagement, ideally in government or policy-related contexts.
* Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate technical content into clear and compelling messages.
* Confidence working with diverse stakeholders, including scientists, policymakers, and community groups.
* The ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver results under pressure.
* A relevant qualification in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or similar (or equivalent experience).

Communications Strategy Development:
Working closely with the ACS NCRA Delivery Team, lead the implementation of the communications strategy for the National Climate Risk Assessment, including goals, key messages, target audiences, and communication channels. Collaborate with DCCEEW to ensure alignment of communication plan and delivery with the Risk Assessment's objectives and priorities.
Content Creation and Management:
* Create engaging and informative content, including articles, press releases, blog posts, fact sheets, and multimedia materials, to support the Risk Assessment, communicate assessment findings and recommendations ensuring that it aligns with the ACS' brand guidelines and communications strategy.
* Collaborate with subject matter experts and researchers to distil complex scientific information into accessible language for diverse audiences.
* Ensure consistency and accuracy of messaging across various communication platforms.
* Prepare media materials, such as press kits, media advisories, and talking points.
Stakeholder Engagement:
* Collaborate with stakeholders to identify communication needs, tailor messages, and develop targeted communication materials.
* Organize and facilitate stakeholder engagement activities, including workshops, webinars, and public consultations.
* Evaluation and Reporting:
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication activities and strategies, utilizing metrics and feedback mechanisms.
* Prepare reports on communication outcomes, including media coverage, website analytics, and social media engagement.
* Use data-driven insights to continuously improve communication approaches and maximize impact
