The Quality Assurance Officer will assist in the management of the laboratory facility and maintenance of the Quality System under the direction from the QA Coordinator to ensure that product released to market complies with the relevant regulatory, legislative, customer and certification program requirements.
This is a fixed term role for 12 months, part time (30 hours per week)
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate and conduct testing and maintenance activities in the laboratory according to the Quality System requirements.
* Responsible for Product Testing for the locally manufactured products.
* Assisting the QA Coordinator in managing the laboratory facility and ensuring compliance to Quality System requirements.
* Maintain the QA inspection and testing program through testing and evaluation of raw materials and finished products for release to ensure conformity to established specifications and QA procedures.
* Planning and conducting environmental, water and product sampling and testing according to QA procedures.
* Prepare the release of finished goods as per internal positive release program and issue certificates of conformance as per customer requirements.
* Generate labels for production requirements eg: vending.
* Review lab results and filing.
* Verification of key production records to ensure compliance to Quality System Managing.
* Managing laboratory facility consumables.
* Assist investigating customer complaints.
* Assist during 3rd party external audits and in other QA activities as required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Degree in Food Science & Technology or similar
* Internal Auditing
* Demonstrated experience in a Quality Assurance role
* Demonstrated experience in a production environment in the food industry
* In depth knowledge of HACCP principles and applications
* Good understanding of Quality Systems and compliance to external certification standards (SQF, BRC, FSSC)
* Knowledge of Australia and New Zealand Food Standards Code
* Computer literate (Microsoft Office) with demonstrated skills in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, databases and information management systems
