**About the Role**
They are currently seeking multiple Assessment Officers to join their rapidly growing team in Strawberry Hills. They are seeking individuals from a variety of assessment backgrounds to work in a high-volume and challenging environment. This is an estimated 6-12month temporary assignment, with a strong potential to extend and/or transition into permanent.
Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be responsible for reviewing high volume of criminal and other records, redacting confidential and non-jurisdictional information to then making an unbiased, objective, and well-reasoned assessments as to whether an applicant poses a risk of harm to vulnerable individuals. You will gather and collate information from disparate sources whilst making sound and evidence-based recommendations to achieve organisational objectives.
**Responsibilities**
- Manage a high-volume caseload
- Evaluate and categorise criminal, workplace and other records in accordance with relevant legislation and procedures
- Assess complex and sensitive material, determining the next course of action
- Interview applicants about their history of offending
- Retrieve, gather, and collate information on applicants from a variety of sources
- Critically analyse information to form a view on its probity and weight in an assessment
- Translate complex and sensitive information into clear, simple, and concise communication for the applicants to understand and for internal decision making
- Deliver customer service that is professions and analytical, but empathetic
- Identify and provide unbiased, evidence-based, and accurate advice on the assessment of risk
- Application of appropriate practices to ensure sound decision-making outcomes are achieved
- Provide timely and accurate responses to management on emergent issues including systemic, complex, or critical issues
- Records and database management, ensuring high integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality
- Establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
- Ensure compliance with best practice, security, privacy and legislative requirements
**About you**
- Tertiary Qualifications in social or behavioural sciences or other relevant discipline
- Records review and risk assessment experience
- Previous experience in administrative or regulatory decision making is preferred, but not essential
- High attention to detail
- Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must be resilient and able to work with complex and distressing information
- Self-sufficient, autonomous, and excellent decision-making skills
- Superior organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise conflicting deadlines
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency with MS office suite
**Requirements**:
- Fully COVID vaccinated or medically exempt
- Valid Working with Children’s Check (WWCC) and willingness to undergo a National Police Check
- Ability to commence and commit to the duration of the assignment
