Role Description
This full-time, on-site Civil Graduate role is based in Darwin, NT. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced legal professionals to assist in civil law matters and provide legal support for Aboriginal clients. Key responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting legal documentation, liaising with clients and stakeholders, preparing case files, and assisting with community legal education initiatives. The role also involves engaging with clients and maintaining professional relationships to achieve positive legal outcomes.
Qualifications
* Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills
* Knowledge or interest in civil law and legal procedures
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with diverse clients
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team and maintain a professional demeanor
* Commitment to social justice, cultural competency, and sensitivity toward working with Aboriginal communities
* Tertiary qualification in law (LLB or equivalent) and eligibility to obtain a Practising Certificate in the Northern Territory
* Experience or an understanding of the unique legal challenges facing Aboriginal people is highly regarded
* Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple responsibilities effectively
