About The GEO Group Australia
The GEO Group Australia operates from Ravenhall Correctional Centre, located west of Melbourne and is Victoria's largest prison for adult sentenced and unsentenced males. The contemporary campus‑style design provides a safe and humane environment that supports the GEO Continuum of Care operating philosophy. Ravenhall also houses a dedicated Forensic Mental Health Unit, a specialized Closed Supervision Unit for prisoners with challenging behaviours, and a small Mission Based Unit for first‑time offenders. The facility extends its community presence through the GEO Community Reintegration Centre, providing ex‑prisoners with post‑release support.
About the Opportunity
The IT Administrator at Ravenhall is responsible for day‑to‑day support and maintenance of the IT systems and applications used throughout the correctional centre and associated state‑wide buildings. The role includes supporting IT functions for the Correctional Centre, the Statewide Services Building, and the Community Reintegration Centre (Richmond). This is an on‑site only position at Ravenhall Correctional Centre.
Key Accountabilities
IT Support
* Provide first‑ and second‑level support to staff, prisoners and other stakeholders for all GEO IT networks, systems and applications, liaising with third‑party providers when required.
* Provide after‑hours support for high‑priority issues (roster).
* Use and maintain the IT Service Desk ticketing system, planning and prioritising systematically to minimise backlog and ensure operational efficiency.
IT Network and Systems Maintenance
* Install, configure and troubleshoot IT infrastructure, including staff PCs, networking equipment, printers, desk phones and video conferencing equipment.
* Monitor performance of GEO systems, ensuring issues are escalated and resolved appropriately.
* Ensure system and data security is maintained in compliance with GEO policies and regulatory requirements.
* Maintain and develop excellent working relationships with key suppliers.
IT Projects
* Provide technical assistance to project teams and undertake technical project roles when required, supporting the roll‑out of new applications and solutions.
Essential
* A combination of relevant experience or education/training in a corporate IT support position, including but not limited to first‑level IT Support and IT systems.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
* Maintain strict confidentiality while working with sensitive and personal information.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work productively with diverse stakeholders.
* Exceptional time management, organisational and administrative skills.
* Ability to achieve outcomes within agreed timeframes and under time pressures.
* Exceptional multi‑tasking and problem‑solving skills.
* Demonstrated experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments.
* Demonstrated experience administering LANs, including VLAN.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10/11 and Office 365 in a hybrid configuration.
Desirable
* Ability to interpret and comply with data and network security principles in accordance with the Australian Government's Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), including Information Security Manual (ISM) and classified networks.
* Basic PowerShell scripting for AD tasks.

* Biometric identification technologies

Other Requirements of the Role
* Ability to work within a correctional setting, involving direct contact with prisoners.
* Valid and current full Australian driver's licence.
* Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
* Work outside of ordinary business hours may be required on occasion.
