Senior Financial Accountant | Construction | 5 days in the office
Join a long-established and reputable construction and property development group in a key finance role. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this Senior Financial Accountant position plays a critical role in statutory compliance, financial reporting, and supporting commercial operations across multiple entities and projects.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment with high exposure to audit, tax, and financial control responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage month-end and year-end close, including job cost analysis, WIP, accruals, prepayments, and movement in project costs
* Prepare and maintain statutory financial statements, audit packs, and year-end files in collaboration with external auditors
* Support the preparation of quarterly financial reporting, forecasts, and financial statements for internal and external stakeholders
* Assist with tax compliance including BAS, FBT, taxable payments reporting, and coordination of annual tax return prep
* Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger integrity, and financial records across entities
* Support management of company insurance, including coverage setup, renewals, claims, and project-specific compliance
* Assist with budgeting and forecasting in Prophix and contribute to group-wide financial planning
* Contribute to asset management, including purchase tracking, disposals, and depreciation schedules
* Support system and process improvements, including updates to finance manuals and reporting enhancements
* Provide backup support to AP/AR where needed and ensure alignment with financial policies
About You
* CA or CPA qualified with at least 7+ years' experience in a financial accounting role, ideally within construction, property, or project-based industries
* Strong understanding of statutory reporting, audit processes, and tax compliance
* Proficient in accounting and job costing systems (e.g. Cheops, Prophix, or similar)
* Excellent attention to detail, with strong time management and communication skills
* Collaborative, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities across projects

* This role is full time in the office - 5 days a week.
* It is a requirement to have a driver's licence.
* Experience in the Construction industry is highly desirable.
