At Austin’s Wines, we’re driven by our vision to be Australia’s leading producer of cool climate wines, crafting exceptional quality to be enjoyed by everyone. Family-owned and proudly Geelong-based, we’re a passionate team that values collaboration, shared accountability, and excellence in every bottle.
We’re looking for an experienced Winemaker to join our team. This is a hands-on role for a disciplined and motivated all-rounder who thrives on working both collaboratively and autonomously.
What you’ll do
This is a varied role where no two days look the same. You’ll be involved in the full production process – from vineyard to bottle.
Winemaking & Production
* Running our bottling line.
* Working on the creation of superior wines from vineyard to bottle.
* Daily winemaking operations with a focus on quality control, efficiency, and sustainability.
* Working closely with the viticulture team to balance grape quality, yield, and production efficiency.
* Planning, scheduling, and coordinating vintage operations.
* Organising monthly and annual winemaking schedules and logistics.
* Participating in tastings and evaluations with the Managing Director, providing recommendations on treatments and analysis.
* Maintaining winery presentation, hygiene, and equipment, including audits and servicing.
Marketing & Brand Support
* Assisting with wine-related events and cellar door experiences.
* Supporting sales and marketing with tasting notes, in-store tastings, brand awareness initiatives and team education.
Operations
* Documenting and communicating all standards and processes for winemaking operations.
* Ensuring WHS practices are followed and maintaining a safe winery environment.
* Continuously improving systems to maximise efficiencies and manage production costs.
What we’re looking for
We’re searching for someone who brings both technical expertise and the right mindset. You’ll have:
* 3-5+ years winemaking experience either as a sole winemaker or under a Senior Winemaker (cool climate experience highly regarded).
* Essential: bottling line experience and a strong track record in cellar operations.
* Willing to take direction and feedback onboard to ensure excellence and innovation.
* Proven ability to balance autonomy with collaboration and shared accountability.
* Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commercial acumen.
* Great communication skills and the ability to coach, support, and lead teams.
* A proactive, disciplined approach with a willingness to roll up your sleeves to support the wider team when needed.
