The Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system and is responsible for shaping it to meet the health needs of all Victorians. We’re focused on supporting Victorians to be as healthy as they can; whether through alerting them to seasonal risks like thunderstorm asthma, notifying them of contact with communicable diseases, safeguarding their drinking water, developing the best health, wellbeing and care facilities in the world, being at the forefront of mental health and wellbeing treatment or accelerating medical research. It’s all part of the way we partner with the community to help every individual lead a healthy life.
About the role:
This is a designated family/carer/supporter lived experience role, which requires declared personal experience of supporting people who use drugs or experience addiction and mental health challenges or psychological distress, and professional experience working with this expertise in roles which represent the family/carer/supporter perspective.
As a Senior Adviser, AOD Lived Experience (Family/Carer) in the Lived and Living Experience Advisory Hub, you will provide strategic lived or living experience advice to the Lived Experience Executive, and to all staff across the Mental Health and Wellbeing Division. You will ensure the views of families, carers and supporters, particularly in relation to alcohol and other drugs (AOD), are central and integral to the design and delivery of AOD and mental health services. This includes supporting the delivery of policies and programs related to the lived experience of families, carers and supporters of people who use drugs or experience addiction and mental health challenges or psychological distress.
