GEM Switchboards is a locally owned electrical manufacturing business specialising in low voltage switchboards for the commercial, industrial and telecommunications sectors. We’re looking for a Switchboard Designer to take ownership of the technical delivery of projects — ensuring designs are accurate, compliant and ready for production.
This is a pure design role focused on technical outcomes. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, production and procurement to make sure everything is buildable and delivered on time.
What you’ll be doing
* Designing low voltage switchboards to meet project and client requirements
* Reviewing drawings, scopes and technical documentation at handover
* Producing accurate, production-ready drawings and documentation
* Coordinating with production to ensure clear build instructions
* Supporting procurement with material lists and technical input
* Identifying design risks, constraints and long lead items early
* Ensuring compliance with AS3000, AS61439 and relevant standards
What we’re looking for
* Experience designing electrical switchboards or similar LV systems
* Strong understanding of Australian Standards (AS3000, AS61439)
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
* Experience with AutoCAD
* Detail-focused with strong problem-solving skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Nice to have:
* Experience with Galaxy / TM Designer or similar software
* Electrical trade or engineering qualification
