About the roleWe're seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Snorkel Guide to take charge of our snorkel operations onboard our premium $10 million tour vessel to Moreton Island. This is a leadership position responsible for overseeing all snorkel guides, ensuring safety, service excellence, and delivering unforgettable in-water experiences for our guests.As the Lead Snorkel Guide, you will be responsible for developing engaging snorkel itineraries and commentary, maintaining training and compliance across the team, and upholding the highest safety and environmental standards. You’ll also manage snorkel equipment maintenance and support general vessel operations throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise the team of snorkel guides to deliver safe, informative, and engaging snorkel tours
Develop and deliver unique snorkel itineraries and in-water commentary tailored to different guest groups
Maintain training, certification, and compliance for all snorkel guides
Conduct regular briefings and debriefings to ensure consistency and quality of delivery
Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental guidelines
Oversee the maintenance, cleanliness, and inventory of snorkel gear and equipment
Conduct regular checks of safety gear, storage systems, and guest equipment
Deliver exceptional customer service and guest engagement before, during, and after water-based activities
Respond to emergencies or in-water incidents calmly and professionally
Support general crewing duties throughout the day including boarding, safety briefings, and guest service assistance
Minimum Requirements
Rescue Diver or Divemaster qualifications (highly regarded)
Current certifications in snorkel supervision
2+ years of experience in guiding snorkel groups
Current residence in South East Queensland
Permanent rights to work in Australia
Valid driver's license allowing you to drive in Queensland
LR licence
Recreational boat and Jetski licence
RSA
First Aid and oxygen administration
Perform water rescues certificate (SISCAQU020)
High level of customer service
Extensive experience as a snorkel or dive guide, with strong leadership skills
Previous experience in guest-facing roles with a focus on service and safety
Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and manage small teams
Strong knowledge of marine life, reef ecology, and the Moreton Bay region (or willingness to learn)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with diverse and international guests
Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to remain calm in high-pressure or emergency situations
Strong commitment to guest safety and delivering premium experiences
Physically fit and confident working in and around water for extended periods
Availability
Must be available to work over a 7-day roster, including during our busiest times - school holidays, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and all public holidays.
