About the position:
In this role, you will help maintain Council's waste facilities to required service standards by providing general labour support and operating skilled mobile plant, including loaders and compactors. You'll work as part of a team-based environment, ensuring facilities are safe, efficient, and well maintained. The position also involves interacting with community members, responding to general enquiries in a professional and helpful manner. Strong teamwork, reliability, and a commitment to service delivery are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Waste Compaction and Site Maintenance
* Regularly
inspect landfill site to identify maintenance requirements
* Ensure
waste is compacted and approved cover material is applied in accordance with
Council's Integrated Management System (IMMS)
* Identify
and report contaminated waste and hazards to the Leading Hand and follow
appropriate action in accordance with Council's IMMS.
* Perform
dust suppression activities as required
* Complete
all required IMMS forms and checklists in a timely manner
* Contribute to onsite earthworks,
waste cell construction and road and rubbish cell maintenance
* Safely work with unknown
materials and handles hazardous waste and angular waste
Labour Support
* Provide
manual collection and relocation of varied materials within the landfill site
* Perform
litter collection and general tidying of waste facilities including boundary
fencing
* Ensure
compliance with Councils Policies, Procedures, Systems and processes as well as
legislative requirements relevant to the position. Including but not limited to
Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunities and Code of
Conduct.
Plant Operations
* Safely
operate Council's plant as per the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)
specifications and Council's policies and procedures
* Undertake
daily servicing and inspection of plant, equipment and machinery to ensure
optimal capacity and efficiency levels and avoid unnecessary operational
downtime
* Report
any faults through Council's fault reporting system in a timely manner
* Maintain
plant records as per Council's IMMS and plant management policies and
procedures
* Utilise
and maintain systems of plant, equipment, tools (hand and power) and personal
protective equipment and clothing (PPE/C) in accordance with Council standards.
