We are currently seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Radio Communications Technician to join our Field Operations Team. This role is dedicated to the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and fault diagnosis of communication systems across a range of environments including mine sites, mobile plant, vehicles, and infrastructure.
About the role:
As a critical part of the WA operational technical team, this role is a key part of the delivery of services to support our client base in office and from our Perth workshop. As this is a customer facing role, the successful applicant must ensure that our standards of efficiency, safety and quality are maintained.
Key responsibilities include:
- Install, commission, and troubleshoot Motorola and Tait voice and data radio systems.
- Conduct workshop-based programming, system builds, and factory acceptance testing.
- Perform preventative maintenance on radio systems across technologies such as analogue, DMR and TETRA.
- Installation and maintenance of DC Power Systems supporting communications infrastructure.
- Test, Install and Commission Wireless networks, microwave radio links, and associated IP-based equipment.
- Installation of radio and wireless equipment on a wide range of infrastructure including LV’s, HV’s, trailers and skids.
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders to ensure project delivery aligns with design specifications, budget, and timelines.
- Complete technical documentation including site surveys, FAT/SAT reports, and installation records.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call roster to support contracted radio systems under SLA agreements.
About You:
- Passionate about radio communications and RF technologies.
- Experienced in conventional and trunked radio systems and IP-based communications.
- Proficient with RF test equipment such as Anritsu RF testers, Keysight Spectrum Analyzers, and Viavi Network Testers.
- Comfortable working at heights and in remote environments.
- Able to work independently or collaboratively on metro and regional projects.
- Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills.
- Willing to travel and participate in after-hours support as required.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Cert III in Electronics and Communications or equivalent trade certificate and cablers licence – Essential.
- 2-5 years’ experience in two-way radio communications systems – Essential.
- Experienced with Motorola radio systems – Highly Desirable.
- Working at Heights/Rigging experience - Highly Desireable.
- Drivers’ licence for manual cars below 4.5t or interstate equivalent – Essential.
- Australian Citizenship or Permanent residency is required for this role – Essential.
- Construction Industry Induction (White/Red/Blue) Card – Essential.
- 'Provide First Aid' Certificate – Desirable.
- High Risk Workers Licence – Work Platform, Rigging – Desirable.
- EWP operator’s license preferable – Desirable.
