Position Overview
The Food Technologist is responsible for developing, improving, and maintaining food production processes to ensure high-quality, safe, and marketable fruit products. This role involves research, quality control, and process optimization for handling, packaging, and preserving stone fruits grown in our orchards.
This full-time position will be offered an annual salary of $75,000 - $90,000 depending on experience
Product Development
* Assist with the development of new or improved fruit processing techniques to enhance quality, shelf life, and efficiency.
* Research and test methods for processing and packaging fresh stone fruit products.
* Assess the impact of processing methods on fruit quality and implement improvements.
Quality Control & Assurance
* Establish and enforce food safety and quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards.
* Test fruit for ripeness, sugar content, acidity, and suitability for processing.
* Monitor production lines to ensure consistency in quality
* Conduct regular inspections and audits of hygiene, equipment, and work areas.
Processing & Manufacturing
* Oversee washing, sorting, packing and storage processes for stone fruits.
* Optimize production techniques for efficiency and waste reduction.
* Oversee packshed teams to ensure proper handling and processing methods are followed.
Packaging & Storage
* Assist with the development and recommending packaging materials and techniques that preserve fruit quality and extend shelf life.
* Ensure compliance with local and international regulations
* Evaluate storage conditions to maintain fruit integrity before distribution.
Compliance & Safety
* Ensure all processing activities comply with food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, FSANZ).
* Train employees on food safety protocols and best practices.
* Address and resolve food safety or contamination issues promptly.
Skill Level:
* Bachelors Degree + 1 year work experience.
